OSBI: Woman, son arrested in Wyoming after allegedly killing her half-brother in Blanchard

The two were arrested on complaints of first-degree murder and arson.

Authorities arrested a 47-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son in Wyoming after officials said they killed her half-brother in Blanchard. On Oct. 15, Michael “Andy” McGuffee’s wife was contacted when he did not show up for work. She sent a family member to check on him at a home in the 8300 block of Garvin Drive, where a news release says they saw signs of a fire.The family member called the Blanchard Fire Department, and crews found McGuffee dead. The Blanchard Police Department requested the OSBI to assist in the investigation, according to the release.OSBI agents determined McGuffee was the victim of a homicide, the news release says. Agents discovered that the fire had been started and many items, including McGuffee’s pickup truck, were stolen from the home.Earlier this week, agents learned someone pawned items belonging to McGuffee in Salina, Kansas. A few days later, agents recovered McGuffee’s pickup truck at a car wash in Oklahoma City, according to the news release.OSBI officials said the investigation led agents to Wyoming, where they and members of the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation found the two suspects. Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers pulled over a moving truck the suspects were driving, and authorities took them into custody.The two were arrested on complaints of first-degree murder and arson. As of Friday afternoon, they were being held in Wyoming and awaiting extradition to Oklahoma.OSBI officials said the woman arrested in connection with McGuffee’s murder was his half-sister. KOCO 5 has chosen not to release the suspects’ names at this time because formal charges have not been filed.
