PATRICK STRES.ET THE DRIVER SAYS HE WAS FOLLOWED BY T SHEUSPECTS. HE SAYS HE KNEW IN HIS GUT THAT THEY WE ERGOING TO TRY AND STEAL HIS CAR. YOU SEE HERE THEY GET OUT OF THEIR CAR, AND POINT A GUN AT M.HI THE DRIVER SAYS THEY FIRED A SHOT BUT HE WAS NOT HURT HE PUT HIS CAR IN REVERSE, AND SPED OFF, UNTIL HE CAME TO A CONSTRUCTION AREA, HOPPED TOU AND DIALED 9.11 I TALKED TO HIM TONIGHT OVER THE PHE.ON HE DID NOT WANT TO BE IDENTIFIED. A brazen carjacking attempt in Mid-City was caught on camera. Police say it happened Tuesday morning on Conti and St. Patrick streets. The driver says he was followed by the suspects. He says he knew in his gut that they were going to try and steal his car. The suspects got out of their car, pointed a gun at him and fired, but no one got hurt. The driver put his car in reverse and sped off until he came to a construction area and dialed 911.He said he was shaking when he called for help but he is thankful to be alive. “I really feel for these children, because they’re kids, they have been put into a position that they’re not getting help and I wish there was a way we could help them,” said the driver, who did not want to be identified. Police say the suspects’ ages 14 and 17 were later arrested in St. Bernard Parish the same day. They are charged with aggravated assault with a firearm in connection to the incident.
